TOPAS Ward go the distance for CNWL NHS Health Charity

Staff at CNWL’s The Older Person’s Assessment Service (TOPAS) have completed an inspiring challenge this September - walking a collective 1,000 miles to raise money for CNWL NHS Health Charity.

What made this challenge especially meaningful was the dedication of patients, who joined staff on daily garden walks and shared how proud they felt to be part of this effort. They also spoke about the positive impact walking had on their physical health, mental wellbeing, and sense of community.

TOPAS provide assessment and treatment for older adults, usually over the age of 65, who have complex or acute mental health needs. The service supports people to return to independent living wherever possible - so the walking challenge was a natural fit, encouraging activity, connection, and wellbeing for both patients and staff.

And the results speak for themselves - the team didn’t just reach their target, they surpassed it, raising over £800 (and counting!).

Congratulations to everyone at TOPAS for this fantastic achievement, and thank you for showing the true power of walking together for a great cause.

"This challenge is not only helping to raise vital funds for the charity, but is also creating a strong sense of community and teamwork between staff and patients. Together, step by step, TOPAS is proving that small daily actions can achieve something remarkable"

— David Jones, Activity Coordinator at TOPAS
