Harrow CAMHS Garden Project flourishes with community support

The Harrow Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Garden Project is in full bloom. We recently caught up with Caitlyn Green, Clinical Associate Psychologist at Harrow CAMHS, to hear about their plans to transform their outdoor space – made possible in part to W6 Garden Centre, a valued corporate partner of CNWL NHS Health Charity. Their generous donation of plants and supplies is helping to turn the garden into a vibrant, calming space for young people to enjoy.

“We’re excited to share the wonderful progress of this year’s Harrow CAMHS Garden Project– a green space initiative that has truly blossomed thanks to the passion and dedication of our service users, as well as the incredible support from our colleagues and partners."

"A big heartfelt thank you goes to the W6 Garden Centre for their incredibly generous donation of plants and other gardening supplies. Their kindness has helped transform our outdoor area into a vibrant, healing environment for everyone at CAMHS to enjoy. We’d also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the CNWL Charity Team, whose support and connections made this collaboration possible.

This project has not only brightened our physical space but also empowered the young people participating. Their creativity, teamwork, and commitment has been inspiring to witness. From planting to planning and problem-solving, they’ve truly taken ownership and made this space their own.

We’re also thankful to our colleagues who rolled up their sleeves and mucked in: Sonya Lewin (Service User Participation Lead), Caitlyn Green (Clinical Associate Psychologist), Laraib Siddique (Assistant Psychologist), Lisa Barrett (Lead Nurse), Geraldine Conboy (Clinical Nurse Specialist) and Bobby the dog. Your time, energy, and encouragement made all the difference, helping to create an inclusive and uplifting experience for everyone.

Looking ahead, we hope this new garden can be utilised as an extension of our waiting room and as a therapeutic space for our service users - a calm, welcoming environment where young people can feel more at ease during their visits. Thank you to all who made this possible."
