There were nerves, laughter and moments of real courage as 67 incredible supporters took part in our very first abseil challenge, raising more than £28,000 to support NHS patients, staff and communities.
On 19 March, participants gathered at 338 Euston Road, stepped over the edge and descended 18 floors.
For many, it was a huge personal challenge, but each person took it on with determination and bravery. With cheers from the ground and encouragement all around, there was a strong sense of pride as each person completed their descent.
An unforgettable experience
For many, it was an experience they will never forget. One participant described feeling “relieved and full of adrenaline” after reaching the ground, while another shared: “It felt really good… I’m doing it for the folks in Hillingdon… it was a lot of fun.”
For others, the challenge was about pushing boundaries. One team said: “We loved the experience!!! We came back to service sooo full of energy and joy! Definitely a precious opportunity to boost our wellbeing and mental health, and at the end an important charity cause"
While the views from the top stretched across London, what truly stood out was the spirit of the day. People coming together, supporting one another, and taking on something daunting to make a difference for communities across our region.
Making a difference together
We're incredibly proud of every single person who took part. It takes real bravery to step over that edge, and every participant should feel a genuine sense of achievement.
Thanks to their efforts, the funds raised will help CNWL NHS Health Charity continue its vital work to improve the health and wellbeing for CNWL patients, staff and communities.
This was more than just a challenge. It was a day of courage, connection and community, and we can’t wait to see what we achieve together next.
