Mark Friend, Chair of Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL), is preparing to take on an exciting new challenge in support of CNWL NHS Health Charity.
On 19 March, he will abseil down 338 Euston Road in the heart of London to raise vital funds that enhance patient care and support staff wellbeing across the Trust
Since joining CNWL in November 2025, Mark has been keen to contribute positively to the charity and the communities it serves. “The charity does great work and has exciting plans which I’m keen to support,” he said. “I’m feeling both excited and nervous. It's going to be fun to do something adventurous like this. I've always been too scared to go to the edge of tall buildings, so this will definitely be a challenge for me.”
While Mark has taken part in many charity events over the years, this will be his first time abseiling from a tall building making it a significant step outside his comfort zone.
Our abseil offers an opportunity to experience an adrenaline rush high above central London while raising funds that make a real difference. Every pound raised helps enhance care environments, improve patient experiences and support wellbeing initiatives across CNWL.
Encouraging colleagues and supporters to seize the moment, Mark added:
“It’s a rare opportunity to combine an adrenaline-filled experience in central London with supporting a fantastic charity. Just do it!”
If you would like to support Mark’s fundraiser, you can donate to his page. And if you’re feeling inspired to take on the challenge yourself, sign up for our abseil.
